Makena Golf Makena North Course - (808) 891-4000 5415 Makena Alanui Makena HI 96753 The Makena North Course is 18-holes of championship golf designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Opened in 1993, the North Course goes out of its way to make golfers feel as one with their natural surroundings. There are no distractions on this course - unless you are distracted by the unobstructed views of the blue pacific and the humpback whales breaching during whale season. In fact, to make it feel more like a nature walk and less like a golf course, even the cart paths on the North Course are tucked away and hidden from view. There are some obstacles to overcome however. Natural Hawaiian rock walls have been left where they were found and they play an integral part in the course design. Natural gulllies and streambeds have also been left intact, along with Makena´s indigenous kiawe trees. The best view from the North Course comes where you´d expect to find it: part-way up the mountain on the thirteenth hole, overlooking the clubhouse and the natural rolling terrain that leads to the ocean.
